New Delhi: India is likely to receive its first bullet train by August 15, 2027 and will be operational in the same year, Union Railways Minister Ashwini
Vaishnaw informed on Thursday. Speaking about India’s first bullet train project that is under construction between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, the Union Minister said the nation will see its first bullet train cruising on tracks next year in 2027.
Revealing more on the timeline of India’s first bullet train project, Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the project will be ready in 2027.
- The first section to open will be from Surat to Bilimora.
- After this, the section between Vapi to Surat will be functional.
- Then Vapi to Ahmedabad and Thane to Ahmedabad.
- And the last section would be Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
What is India's First Bullet Train Project Between Mumbai-Ahmedabad
India's first bullet train project is being constructed between Ahmedabad and Mumbai via a high-speed rail corridor spanning 508 km.

Out of 508 Km, 348 km lies in Gujarat and 156 km in Maharashtra, with a 21 km section running underground, including 7 km through a sea tunnel and 5 km through a mountain tunnel.
The high-speed bullet train is designed to operate at a top speed of 320 km per hour.
Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor will have a total of 12 stations including Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Bilimora, and Vapi in Gujarat, along with Boisar, Virar, Thane, and Mumbai in Maharashtra.
Once fully operational, the travel time between Ahmedabad and Mumbai will be reduced to nearly 3 hours.

The high-speed train corridor will sport facilities like modern station, ample seating, clear signage, high-quality restrooms, nurseries, and baggage lockers.
The train stations on this corridor will also have exclusive business lounges for first-class travelers, wheelchair-friendly designs, tactile tiles for visually impaired passengers, and dedicated washrooms for differently-abled commuters, among other facilities.
