VERIA, Greece (AP) — Each spring, the expansive plains of Greece’s largest peach-producing region transform into a stunning pink landscape as peach trees
bloom. This breathtaking spectacle attracts thousands of visitors, primarily from Greece and increasingly from other European countries. Gianna Pilitsidou, president of the Veria Tourism Club, emphasized the unique experience of witnessing the vast pink orchards, which cover approximately 170 square kilometers (about 65 square miles). Events organized by the club aim to celebrate the blossoms and promote local agriculture.

The Veria Tourism Club has coordinated various activities in the peach orchards, including photography events, cycling tours, and the promotion of local farmers’ products. These events serve to welcome spring and encourage visitors to explore the beauty of the region.

Over two weekends, numerous visitors enjoyed wandering through the blooming orchards near Veria, located 72 kilometers (45 miles) west of Thessaloniki. Wesley van Eijk, a blogger from the Netherlands, expressed his desire for people from countries like Holland and Belgium to discover lesser-known yet beautiful locations such as Veria.
