New Delhi: A massive fire broke out at an apartment complex, housing residences of several Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs, opposite Delhi's Ram Manohar
Lohia Hospital on Saturday afternoon. The fire broke out at MP Flats on multi-storey Brahmaputra Apartments on BD Marg in the national capital around 1:20 PM today. Several fire tenders have rushed to the spot, and firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. A call regarding the fire at Brahmaputra Apartments on Baba Kharag Singh Marg was received at 1.22 pm, an official said.
Fourteen fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the blaze was brought under control by 2.10 pm, a Delhi Fire Services official told news agency PTI. "Fourteen fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was controlled by 2.10 pm. Fire was said to be in domestic items," the official added.
ADO Delhi Fire Service, Bhupender told news agency ANI, "At 1.22 pm, we received a call reporting a fire at Brahmaputra Apartments, located near Pandit Pant Marg... We immediately dispatched 14 vehicles, including TTL, as this is a high-rise building. So far, the damage is mostly on the stilt floor, and the upper floors are damaged externally. The fire has been brought under control, but our work is still ongoing... There is no casualty report yet..."

The apartment complex, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2020, houses residences of several Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs.
Earlier today, a major fire engulfed some commercial shops in Malad area on Saturday afternoon. The blaze, which erupted around 1 PM in Pathanwadi, is confined to approximately 15-20 shops, and there is no report of any injury to anyone.
At least eight fire engines and other firefighting vehicles are conducting operations to douse the fire.
The cause of the blaze cannot be known immediately.
