Muzaffarpur Hospital Fire: At least four people were killed after a massive fire broke out at Prasad Hospital in Bihar's Muzaffarpur in the early hours
of the morning on Thursday, triggering panic among patients and staff. According to initial information, the fire started at around 3 am at the hospital located on Juran Chhapra Road No. 3. Reports suggest that the blaze may have originated in the ICU section of the hospital. Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary has confirmed that four people died in the fire at a hospital in Muzaffarpur. He also announced an ex-gratia compensation of Rs 4 lakh for the families of each deceased victim. Muzaffarpur District Magistrate Subrat Kumar Sen said that multiple casualties have been reported after a massive fire broke out in the ICU of Prasad Hospital. He said firefighting teams responded swiftly and have managed to bring the blaze under control.

"Several lives were lost following a massive fire that broke out in the ICU of Prasad Hospital in Muzaffarpur. Firefighting teams, arriving promptly at the scene, have successfully brought the blaze under control. Reports received so far indicate three fatalities. Further details awaited," Subrat Kumar Sen, District Magistrate, Muzaffarpur told ANI.
"A total of 15 patients were admitted at the facility, and we have so far obtained records for 13 of them. Some patients were also being treated in the CCU. They have now been shifted and admitted to nearby hospitals. We have recorded statements from their family members as well. We are verifying every piece of information that comes to us. As of now, three deaths have been officially confirmed. We have seen the bodies, and the Civil Surgeon has also confirmed the fatalities. It is a very tragic incident. Our priority is to conduct a thorough investigation. A dedicated team will be constituted to examine how exactly this incident occurred, and all further action will be taken in accordance with the law. At first glance, the incident appears to have been caused by a short circuit. However, the exact cause can only be determined after a detailed investigation," Sen added.
Multiple fire tenders were rushed to the spot and firefighting operations are currently underway. Relief and rescue teams are engaged in evacuating patients and bringing the situation under control.
