Gurugram has once again made headlines after heavy rainfall left the city waterlogged and brought traffic to a standstill for hours. Frustrated residents
flooded social media with their experiences of chaos during the downpour. One woman on X recounted how she was stranded on the road after her driver refused to continue, fearing the car might break down in the waist-deep water. “Stuck in the middle of Gurgaon because my Uber driver refused to move ahead in the rain—his exact words: ‘Meri gaadi band ho jaaegi madam’,” she wrote. She added that she pleaded with him to at least stop on the main road. “I had to beg him at least to stop on the main road. This is not just about me—it’s about how our city completely collapses every time.” Along with her post, she uploaded a video showing the extent of waterlogging in the city. Her account quickly went viral, sparking wide discussion online. Many pointed out that the “infrastructure is crumbling,” and that the “situation is becoming worst.” Note: Times Now could not verify the authenticity of the post.
One user commented, “This city is touted as the IT hub of North India. Major leading MNC offices exist here. Adjacent to New Delhi. And, this is how it's managed. We have become so complacent that we don't even care about our basic rights as citizens. Having clubs, alcohol shops, and malls is enough.”
Another wrote, “Rs 5 crore homes, Rs 5 drainage system. Luxury housing, third-world planning—only in Gurugram.” A third shared, “I travelled in the afternoon, didn't know the situation would become so dire in the evening. Even the metros were crumbling and couldn't take such a huge crowd. Pathetic affairs.” While a fourth summed it up bluntly: “Gurgaon has become a joke.''
