A major cheese importer and distributor in the United States has recalled several grated cheese products after tests found possible contamination with
Listeria, according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The recall involves seven different cheese products imported from Italy and sold under well-known brand names. The recall was issued by The Ambriola Company, which is based in West Caldwell, New Jersey. While the company began recalling the products in late November, the FDA officially classified the recall on January 6. The FDA gave the recall a Class I classification, the most serious type of recall. This means that eating the affected products could cause serious health problems or even death, especially for people in high-risk groups.
