Amid tensions in Saudi Arabia, following escalation from the Houthis, Air India Express has temporarily revised the schedule of its flights to and from Jeddah.
Sources told Times Now, that amid the security situation at Jeddah airport, Air India Express has changed the schedule for Jeddah flights to maintain all the operations during the day time. The airline says, there won’t be any night arrivals or departure for a brief period and that the situation is being monitored on a day-to-day basis, according to sources. The decision came to effect from September 15, while passengers have been informed and rescheduling options have been given to the passengers, sources added. Saudi air defences intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone south of Mecca, a spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen said on Tuesday. Major General Turki al-Maliki said the drone was destroyed at about 18:50 local time as it attempted to enter restricted airspace over the holy city. He described it as the "second" Houthi attempt to target the holy site, following an attempted ballistic missile attack in 2017. The coalition "will not hesitate to take all necessary and deterrent measures" against the Houthi rebel group, al-Maliki said. The Houthis have not, in the information provided, commented on the claim about the drone. The United States has revised its travel advisory for Saudi Arabia to Level 3, urging citizens to reconsider travel amid the ongoing Saudi-Yemen conflict. In an advisory issued Wednesday, the US State Department cited potential threats including Iranian drone and missile attacks targeting American interests, armed conflict, terrorism, exit bans and restrictions linked to social media activity. The department also noted that certain parts of Saudi Arabia face heightened security risks. Meanwhile, Yemen continues to remain under a Level 4 “Do Not Travel” advisory for US citizens. Amid widespread chaos and missile exchange, a fresh explosion was also reported in South Lebanon.
