will be aimed at distinguishing legitimate business calls from spam, they added. Under this proposed framework, companies using AI-powered calling systems may have to share details with telecom operators, while commercial AI calls made through personal mobile numbers could lead to disconnection. These measures are intended to curb unwanted calls without disrupting genuine business communications, with compliant AI-generated calls potentially being identified separately from spam, while enabling telecom operators to better monitor and track such calls on their networks. The regulator's objective is to prevent the rapid growth of AI-powered calling from creating a new channel for spam and fraud while ensuring that genuine businesses can continue using automated calling systems. With AI tools becoming increasingly affordable and widely available, experts anticipate a rise in voice-cloning scams. As a result, technologies capable of authenticating a caller’s identity could become increasingly important for secure digital communication. For everyday users, the concern is no longer limited to whether an unknown number should be answered but also whether a seemingly familiar voice can genuinely be trusted.
