Where was IISc Bengaluru positioned last year?
The Times Higher Education (THE) released the World University Rankings by Subject 2025 on January 24, 2025.The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru was the only Indian institution to secure a spot among the global top 100 in computer science.
IISc Bengaluru achieved a milestone by entering the top 100 for the first time, ranking 99th in the subject rankings. The jump is particularly notable, as the institute was placed in the 251–300 band in 2025.
Delhi University (DU) also featured in the rankings, placed in the 301+ band, and emerged as the only Indian university to be listed among the world’s leading institutions in the subjects of law and psychology. Check previous year rankings here.
