New Delhi: Commuters in the Capital are likely to face traffic diversions on Sunday morning as the city prepares for the “NaMo Run – For Viksit Delhi”.
The event will be held on 28 September between 7 am and 9 am, with runners starting from multiple points including Vikas Marg, Delhi Secretariat, DM Central Office, and Sadaiv Atal, heading towards Connaught Place. Delhi Traffic Police have issued an advisory, cautioning about restrictions and heavy vehicular movement in and around Connaught Place and adjoining roads. Special arrangements will be in place from 6 am to 9 am to ensure safety and smooth flow.
Roads Affected
Traffic will not be allowed on several stretches during the run. Key routes include:- Delhi Secretariat Velodrome Road up to IP Flyover
- BSZ Marg from ITO to Delhi Gate
- Vikas Marg (under IP Flyover), IP Marg and ITO Chowk
- JLN Marg covering Rajghat, Delhi Gate and Guru Nanak Chowk to Kamla Market roundabout
- Kamla Market roundabout to Minto Road leading to Connaught Place
- Ranjeet Singh Flyover to Turkman Gate
- DDU Marg (ITO Chowk to Minto Road red light)
- Rani Jhansi Road and Panchkuian Road
- Mahatma Gandhi Marg (IP Flyover to Sadaiv Atal)
- Pusa Road
Alternate Routes
Motorists have been asked to opt for Ring Road, Outer Ring Road, Rani Jhansi Flyover, and other peripheral routes to avoid congestion.
Special Instructions
- No heavy or commercial vehicles will be permitted on the affected roads during the event.
- Parking will not be allowed on these stretches, and any unauthorised vehicles will be towed away.
- Public transport is recommended, and commuters should follow the directions of traffic personnel posted at key junctions.
Authorities have urged motorists to remain patient, follow traffic rules and cooperate with police officers to ensure the event passes smoothly.
