Amritapuri (Kollam): A major research report outlining safety and ethical guidelines for artificial intelligence in critical sectors was released at Amrita Vishwa
Vidyapeetham’s Amritapuri campus, marking an important step in shaping responsible AI adoption in India and the Global South. Titled “Principles for Ethical and Safe Agentic AI Orchestration Across Infrastructure Gradients – Safety Guidelines for Critical Sectors in India and the Global South,” the research report was unveiled during the AI Safety Conclave organised by the AI Safety Research Lab under the Amrita Center for Cybersecurity Systems and Networks. The conclave was held under the theme “Safe AI for the Global South” and served as a precursor to the India AI Impact Summit 2026, to be organised by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The event brought together several prominent national and international leaders, including Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary, Ministry of IT and CEO of the IndiaAI Mission; Gabriela Ramos, Assistant Director-General of UNESCO; Avinash Ramtohul, Minister of ICT, Mauritius; and D. Seshagiri, Director and Scientist at NPOL–DRDO. Industry voices such as Ankit Bose, Head of AI at Nasscom, and Vinay Chandran, Partner at Quantum Black, AI by McKinsey (Middle East), also participated, along with senior academic leaders from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. University officials said the release of the report reflects Amrita’s commitment to building robust, ethical, and inclusive AI ecosystems. The document is designed to support the coordinated and responsible deployment of agentic AI systems, with a strong focus on the socio-economic and infrastructure realities of developing regions. The research report lays out core principles and practical frameworks for AI use in sectors such as healthcare, education, finance, energy, and public services. It highlights key values including safety, transparency, accountability, and human oversight, offering actionable guidance for policymakers, technologists, and institutions navigating AI adoption. Beyond the report launch, the conclave featured expert-led panel discussions on developing AI ecosystems in healthcare, education, banking, and other critical areas, along with focused deliberations on AI safety and ethics. Held in a hybrid format, the conclave saw participation from nearly 300 delegates, underscoring growing global engagement on the future of safe, ethical, and trustworthy artificial intelligence.
