Re-NEET 2026: Mumbai’s suburban railway network will operate without the usual Sunday maintenance blocks on June 21, the day of the NEET UG 2026 re-test,
offering relief to thousands of candidates travelling to examination centres across the city and neighbouring regions. According to PTI, both Central Railway and Western Railway have decided to suspend their routine mega and jumbo blocks that are typically carried out on Sundays for maintenance work. The move has been taken to ensure smooth and uninterrupted travel for NEET aspirants appearing for the examination. Mumbai’s suburban railway network serves millions of commuters every day and remains one of the primary modes of transport for students travelling across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The absence of maintenance blocks is expected to significantly reduce travel disruptions on the exam day. According to PTI, a spokesperson from Western Railway confirmed that no jumbo block will be operated on June 21. The official stated that the decision was taken keeping in mind the large number of students who will be commuting to their designated examination centres. Western Railway is also expected to run its suburban services on a regular schedule to facilitate easier movement of candidates. Central Railway has similarly announced that there will be no mega block on its suburban network on the day of the examination. The decision was made to provide a hassle-free travel experience for aspirants and their families. The NEET UG re-test is scheduled to be held on June 21 following the cancellation of the original examination conducted on May 3 amid allegations of a paper leak. Since the announcement of the re-exam, students and parents have expressed concerns regarding logistics, travel arrangements, and access to examination centres. The railway authorities believe that suspending the routine maintenance blocks will help minimise inconvenience and ensure candidates reach their centres on time, reports PTI.
