What is the story about?
US President Donald Trump has dramatically escalated pressure on Iran and its allies, warning that any country supplying military weapons to Tehran will
face immediate 50% tariffs on all goods entering the United States, even as he claimed Iran has undergone a βvery productive regime changeβ and signalled a potential diplomatic reset. In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump said Washington would now βwork closelyβ with Iran, push for a complete halt to uranium enrichment, and begin talks on tariff and sanctions relief, suggesting that key elements of a broader agreement may already be in place.
What Trump Claimed
According to his statement:
- Iran has already undergone a βregime changeβ
- No uranium enrichment will be allowed going forward
- The US will help remove nuclear material from underground sites
- Iranian facilities are under constant satellite monitoring
- Talks on tariff and sanctions relief are underway
- A broader 15-point framework is close to agreement.
Taking to his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said, "The United States will work closely with Iran, which we have determined has gone through what will be a very productive Regime Change! There will be no enrichment of Uranium, and the United States will, working with Iran, dig up and remove all of the deeply buried (B-2 Bombers) Nuclear βDust.β
"It is now, and has been, under very exacting Satellite Surveillance (Space Force!). Nothing has been touched from the date of attack. We are, and will be, talking Tariff and Sanctions relief with Iran. Many of the 15 points have already been been agreed to. Thank you for your attention to this matter," he added.
"A Country supplying Military Weapons to Iran will be immediately tariffed, on any and all goods sold to the United States of America, 50%, effective immediately. There will be no exclusions or exemptions!" he said in another post.
What Did Trump Say In His Two-Week Truce Announcement?
US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that the United States will pause any planned strikes on Iran for two weeks. He shared the decision on Truth Social just about 1.5 hours before his own 48-hour deadline for action expired. The move comes at a tense moment, after strong warnings raised fears of a major military escalation in the region.
In his post, Trump said the pause would be part of a βdouble-sidedβ ceasefire. He linked the decision to a condition that Iran must fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which is one of the worldβs most important routes for oil and gas shipments.
However, Iran offered a different version of events. The countryβs Supreme National Security Council said it agreed to the ceasefire but rejected Trumpβs claim about the Hormuz condition.
What Did Trump Say About Ceasefire?
Trump shared a detailed statement outlining the reason behind the decision. He said, βBased on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, of Pakistan, and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a double-sided CEASEFIRE!β
He added, βThe reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all Military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive Agreement concerning Longterm PEACE with Iran, and PEACE in the Middle East.β
