The National Testing Agency is all det to conduct the NEET UG 2026 re-examination on June 21 (Sunday), but a week before the exam, over 1400 students have
submitted a request to postpone the exam. Advocate Vineet Jindal, who has been helping CBSE Students submit their class 12 revaluation complaints, has now submitted a representation on behalf of a large number of NEET aspirants from across the country. "The students are not responsible for the circumstances that led to the cancellation and re-conduct of the examination. However, they are presently bearing the burden of uncertainty, anxiety, and disruption caused by this unfortunate incident. A large number of aspirants have represented that the sudden decision to conduct a re-examination within a short period has caused immense mental stress, emotional trauma, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and loss of concentration," Jindal stated in his letter to the Ministry of Education and NTA. "Many students had completed their preparation cycle, appeared for the examination, and thereafter shifted their focus towards counselling, admissions, and other academic commitments. They now find themselves compelled to restart their preparation under extraordinary psychological pressure," he added in his letter. He further stated that since NEET is one of the toughest exam of the country, students require "extensive preparation over several months", and the time that was provided for the "re-examination is insufficient for meaningful revision and preparation." "Students who had performed well in the earlier examination are particularly aggrieved, as they are being required to reappear despite having committed no wrongdoing. Such circumstances raise serious concerns regarding fairness and equal opportunity for all candidates," he added. Jindal also stated that it is unfair for students who belong to distant districts and rural areas and require adequate time for travel arrangements, accommodation, and other logistical preparations. "Several candidates have also highlighted health-related concerns arising from prolonged stress and uncertainty. The confidence of students in the examination process can only be restored if they are provided a reasonable opportunity to prepare and compete in a fair and stress-free environment," he added.
Through this request, 1,467 students are demanding the the NEET re-exam be postponed by a month, and the 'revised examination schedule be announced after providing adequate notice to all candidates'.
NTA will be conducting re-examination on June 21, after the first exam (which was held on May 3) was cancelled due to an alleged paper leak. This year, over 22 lakh students had appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, Undergraduate (NEET UG) exam which was held on May 3. Admit cards for re-NEET have already been issued. NEET UG is conducted annually for students aspiring to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses (such as MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH).
