A case has been registered at Hastings Police Station against former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and organisers of the West Bengal Trinamool
Chhatra Parishad (WBTMCP) over alleged violation of a Calcutta High Court order during the organisation’s foundation day programme on August 28. According to the complaint, supporters allegedly pushed aside barricades, jostled with police personnel, disrupted traffic on Cathedral Road, and continued the programme beyond the court-permitted time.
The case has been registered under Sections 61(2), 223, 125(a), 132 and 285 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The FIR was filed at the Hastings Police Station against Banerjee as well as the organisers of the meeting of the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP), an officer said.
"The FIR has been registered for the alleged violation of the court's order. The role of all those involved in the violation will be examined during the course of the investigation," he said.
The case was registered after examining the conditions imposed by the court for holding the meeting at Cathedral Road in central Kolkata on Friday.
