Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor, recently elected as the MLA from Bankipur in Bihar, has outlined an employment-focused roadmap for his constituency.
Speaking at a public gathering, he said efforts would be made to secure private jobs for at least 10,000 educated but unemployed youths over the next two years. Kishor won the Bankipur seat in a by-election after Nitin Nabin resigned following his election to the Rajya Sabha. With his entry into theAssembly, Kishor signalled that addressing unemployment would be central to his agenda.
Focus on Employment Opportunities
During his address, Kishor urged unemployed youth to submit their CVs at his office, promising assistance in connecting them with job opportunities. He said he would rely on his professional network across the country to help place candidates in different sectors, including roles outside Bihar if necessary.
He acknowledged that creating jobs within the state would take time and linked it to broader political change. For now, he said, the priority would be to ensure that eligible candidates are able to access opportunities wherever they are available.
Education and Welfare Commitments
Alongside employment, Kishor also highlighted plans to improve the standard of education in government schools and he said efforts would be made within a year to raise the quality to a level where parents feel confident enrolling their children in these institutions.
He added that if such improvements are not achieved, he would take responsibility for supporting students’ education, including helping them secure admission in private schools and arranging for fee support.
Kishor also spoke about strengthening welfare measures, including better access to food grains and social security pensions for economically weaker sections.
Remarks on Student Protests
Referring to recent incidents involving police action against protesting students in New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and Jharkhand, Kishor criticised the use of force. He said such measures cannot silence the concerns of young people and warned that unresolved issues could lead to wider unrest.
He stressed the need for timely solutions, noting that the growing frustration among youth should not be ignored.
Kishor’s announcements indicate a strong emphasis on employment generation, education reform and youth engagement in Bankipur, as he begins his tenure with a focus on addressing key local concerns.
