What is the story about?
Israel on Tuesday denied any involvement in reported US strikes on Iran's Qeshm Island, located in the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz. The
denial comes amid reports of American military action against the Iranian island, with the Israeli military telling AFP that it had no role in the reported strikes. The development comes as US President Donald Trump faces the 2026 midterm elections, with his administration's approach towards Iran and the wider Middle East remaining under scrutiny. The reported strikes add another layer to tensions between Washington and Tehran ahead of the crucial electoral contest.

Iran-US Deal Still Out Of Reach
Iran and the United States remain far from a deal to end the war, despite intensified diplomatic efforts to avert a return to major conflict.
Iranian negotiators were in Doha on Sunday for a third consecutive day of talks with Qatari mediators. The talks ended with altered proposals but no breakthrough.
"Consultations through mediators are very intensive. We have presented our conditions and proposals and everything depends on the political rationality of Washington," Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said in comments carried by state media outlet IRNA.
