A few hours after NTA cancelled NEET UG 2025, the Federation of Indian Medical Association (FAIMA) has moved Supreme Court to dissolve the National Testing
Agency (NTA) and replace it with a robust organisation. FAIMA has submitted the plea in the Supreme Court alleging that there has been "systematic failure" by NTA in conduction of NEET UG 2026. The petition has been filed through advocate Tanvi Dubey. Through this petition, FAIMA seeks directions to replace or fundamentally restructure the NTA and to conduct a fresh NEET UG 2026 examination under judicial supervision. Through this plea, FAIMA has requested the apex Court to: a. Direct the Union of India to replace or fundamentally restructure the NTA with a more robust, technologically advanced, and autonomous body for conducting NEET. b. Direct appointment of a High-Powered Monitoring Committee chaired by a retired Supreme Court Judge, a cybersecurity expert, and a forensic scientist, to supervise the re-conduct of NEET UG 2026, until the NEIC is formally constituted to oversee the re-examination and ensure no further leaks occur. c. Direct re-conduct the NEET UG 2026 examination under strict scrutiny of judicially appointed high powered committee until the proposed NEIC or an interim oversight committee constituted by this Court has verified and certified the security of the revised examination process. d. Direct mandating the “Digital Locking” of question papers and a transition to a “Computer Based Test” (CBT) model, as suggested in the aftermath of previous leaks, to eliminate the physical chain-of-custody risks. e. Direct CBI to file a status report before this Court within four weeks regarding the investigation into the NEET UG 2026 paper leak, including the network identified, arrests made, persons charged, and progress of prosecution. f. Direct Respondent No. 2 to forthwith publish centre-wise results (as and when available) of NEET UG 2026, to allow transparent detection of anomalies. NTA cancelled NEET UG 2026 exam on May 12 (Tuesday) after it was alleged that there has been a paper leak in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026 exam. This announcement was made by the NTA through their official 'X' account.
