Amid the ongoing probe into the high-profile Ayodhya Ram Temple donation theft case, police have recovered large amounts of cash, foreign currency and
gold ornaments from multiple accused. According to exclusive recovery documents accessed by Times Now, the police have recovered more than Rs 1 crore in cash from the accused in connection with the case. The recoveries were made during the probe into the FIR registered at the Ram Janmabhoomi Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Corruption Act. According to police recovery memos, the accused allegedly confessed to misappropriating devotees' donations while they were engaged in counting offerings received at the temple and pointed out to the locations where the stolen money had been concealed, leading investigators to recover the cash and valuables. Details regarding the cash recovered from the accused are mentioned below:
- Lavkush Mishra: Rs 14.25 lakh
- Anukalp Mishra: Rs 16.82 lakh
- Manish Kumar Yadav: Rs 20 lakh
- Avinash Shukla: Rs 20.39 lakh, 1,121 US dollars and gold ornaments
- Karunesh Pandey: Rs 18.07 lakh
- Ramshankar Mishra: Rs 7.32 lakh
- Ramshankar Yadav alias Tillu: Rs 1 lakh
- Another accused: Rs 6.93 lakh (as per a separate recovery memo)
Notably, the police has intensify its investigation in connection with the case and are verifying the total amount allegedly siphoned from temple donations.
Cash Hid In Washrooms To Beat CCTV
The probe into the alleged embezzlement of donation funds at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya revealed new details after one of the arrested accused reportedly told investigators that stolen cash was temporarily stashed in washrooms before being smuggled out of the temple complex to dodge detection.Accused Avinash Shukla was questioned for nearly two hours by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) after the team obtained court permission. During the interrogation, Shukla allegedly admitted to stealing crores of rupees and detailed how the theft was carried out, Times Now reported, citing police sources.
Ayodhya Ram Temple Trust Calls Urgent Meeting
Amid the ongoing probe into the Ayodhya Ram Temple donations theft case, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust on Tuesday called for an urgent gathering of its members as it has advanced its next meeting to July 6 from the previously scheduled July 11 meet.According to sources, the meeting is likely to discuss key decisions on the fate of its former general secretary Champat Rai and Trust member Anil Mishra, as the controversy over alleged donation irregularities is mounting troubles for the Trust. Notably, Rai and Mishra have already resigned and it is speculated that the possibility of their resignations being accepted is very "high".
