A video showing the alleged aftermath of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led protest at Delhi's Connaught Place (CP) has gone viral on social media, with
a content creator claiming that protesters left the area's footpaths littered and damaged. The clip has sparked a debate online, with users divided over who should be held responsible for the condition of the protest site after the agitation ended. However, clearance and cleanliness work has been carried out at the protest site, after the withdrawal of the agitation following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) conducted a midnight cleanliness drive at Jantar Mantar and adjoining areas after protesters vacated the site. Sanitation workers carried out cleaning and clearance work at the protest site and surrounding roads
The video was shared on Instagram by a user identified as Aman Saini. In the clip, he walks through parts of Connaught Place, showing what he claims is garbage scattered across the footpaths following the protest. He also points to graffiti and abusive words allegedly written on walls, claiming that public property was damaged during the demonstration.
While recording the video, he says, "CP jahan bahut accha ghoomne ka environment tha, bahut acchi footpaths rehte the, yahan protesters ne un footpaths ko toilet bana diya hai. Yeh dekho yahan par..." He then points towards an abusive word written on a wall and adds, "Aur bhi bahut zyada gandagi kar di hai."
A text overlaid on the video reads: "What happened to our Connaught Place? Traffic rules? None was following. Footpaths? Treated like open toilets. Who is accountable for this?"
The video has since gone viral, attracting thousands of views and prompting strong reactions from social media users.
One user commented, "Now they will blame this on Delhi's CM, bro... DW."
Another wrote, "According to them, democracy is when they can vandalise public property and abuse anyone openly."
Several other users also called on the protesters to take responsibility for the alleged littering and damage seen in the viral clip.
However, many people claiming to be part of the protest disputed the allegations in the comments section. They said that several volunteers stayed back after the demonstration to clean the protest site and argued that the viral video did not present the complete picture.
The video has reignited discussions on social media over civic responsibility during large public demonstrations, with users debating whether organisers and participants should ensure that protest venues are restored to their original condition once events conclude.
On July 25, after weeks of protests and demonstrations led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned from his post. Pralhad Joshi later took charge as the new Education Minister.
