Delhi AQI: The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi was recorded in "very poor" category at 381, with pollution levels crossing the 400 mark in several
areas. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Wednesday due to dense fog. This combination of weather and pollution is likely to reduce visibility across the national capital, significantly affecting road travel, train services and flight operations. In view of this, the Delhi Airport issued a passenger advisory, warning of possible delays in flight operations. Delhi AQI Today Officials attributed the poor air quality to an unfavourable ventilation index of less than 6,000 sq m per second and average wind speeds below 10 kmph, which are not conducive to the dispersion of pollutants. It was followed by industries in the city and peripheral areas at 7.6 per cent, residential sources at 3.7 per cent, construction activities at 2 per cent and waste burning at 1.3 per cent. The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), operated by DIAL, handles around 1,300 flights daily. An official said 60 arrivals and 58 departures were cancelled, while 16 flights were diverted. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the Delhi Airport said, “Due to prevailing dense fog conditions, flight operations are currently being conducted under CAT III protocols, which may result in delays or cancellations. Our ground teams are on-site and actively assisting passengers to ensure a smooth travel experience. For the latest flight updates, please reach out to your respective airlines.”
