As Diwali approaches, social media is filled with messages encouraging people to buy from small vendors and street-side sellers so that they can make sales
and celebrate the festival, rather than purchasing everything online. While some vendors manage to make good sales, others struggle to sell anything. However, a heartwarming video has gone viral where UP police officers stepped in to make Dadi Amma’s day by buying all her diyas after she had not made any sales. The video has won the hearts of netizens. The clip has been shared across social media platforms by various users. It was also shared on X by @MeghUpdates, captioned, “This Dhanteras, Amma’s clay lamps found no buyers. Seeing this, Station In-charge Vijay Gupta bought all her diyas and brightened not just her stall, but her heart too. Hapur, Uttar Pradesh. Let’s take a vow this festive season — to support our local artisans and buy made-in-India products.” In the video, two police officers can be seen purchasing all the diyas from the elderly woman vendor. The woman explains that no one had come to buy her diyas, but the officers came to her rescue and purchased all of them. She also said, “mera aashirwaad in par bane rahe, khoob inki lambi umar rahe,” giving her blessings to the officers. At the end, the police officer paid her Rs 1,000.
The video has since gone viral, earning heartwarming reactions from netizens.
One user wrote, “No corporate ad can match this kind of goodness. One cop, one Amma, and one simple gesture that brought light to both. This is Bharat — where humanity still glows brighter than LED lights.”
Another commented, “What a heartwarming gesture by Vijay Gupta! Supporting local artisans truly lights up lives this festive season.”
