As Opposition leaders of the INDIA bloc are preparing to hold a protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, the Delhi Police issued a traffic
advisory hours before the protest on Thursday evening, October 08. The protest will be held this evening at Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial at Rajghat, Delhi. The INDIA bloc Opposition leaders are holding the protest to also highlight what they alleged was the “hijacking” of the country by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and CEC Kumar through a criminal conspiracy by indulging in ‘vote chori’, PTI reported. As per the Delhi Police’s traffic advisory, restrictions have been imposed on buses, including DTC buses, and heavy vehicles, including HGVs. The restrictions will remain in force until 10:00 PM today. “Due to the ongoing protest at Rajghat, restrictions on buses, including DTC buses, and heavy vehicles, including HGVs, take effect immediately and will remain in force until 10:00 PM today, 8 October 2026, at the following points: Chatta Rail: No movement towards NS Marg/Red Fort. NS Marg–Subhash T-Point: No movement towards Delhi Gate. Shanti Van Chowk: No movement towards Ring Road/Rajghat,” the advisory read. The police also advised drivers of such vehicles to use alternative routes. “Drivers of these vehicles are advised to use alternative routes and follow diversions directed by traffic personnel. Please keep intersections clear and give way to emergency vehicles. We request your cooperation to minimise congestion and inconvenience,” the advisory further read.

As per PTI, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi alleged that Modi, Shah, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and CEC Gyanesh Kumar have destroyed the Constitution and asserted that they will be brought to justice for their alleged conspiracy.
This is the third day of protests by Opposition MPs and leaders. On Tuesday, October 06, Rahul Gandhi staged an eight-hour sit-in inside the Akashvani Bhawan complex, while on Wednesday, October 07, the leaders staged a protest at the roundabout near the Shangri-La hotel in central Delhi after they were stopped by the police, forcibly removed and detained.
