Mercedes-Benz is getting ready to change the way people look at large family cars with its upcoming electric MPV called the VLE, which will have more than
500 km of range. This eight-seater is scheduled to make its global debut on March 10, 2026, in Stuttgart and is designed to offer space, comfort and long driving range. The VLE will be the first vehicle to use Mercedes-Benz’s new VAN.EA platform, which is a flexible electric architecture designed for future electric vans and MPVs. Power options are expected to include single and dual-motor setups. Entry versions may produce around 268 horsepower, while top variants could go up to 470 horsepower, which makes it powerful for a people mover. Battery sizes are expected to range between 90kWh and 120kWh, with Mercedes-Benz claiming a driving range of more than 500 km on the WLTP cycle. Fast charging will also be a highlight, with support for up to 350kW DC charging thanks to an advanced 800-volt system. It will be an eight-seater electric vehicle, which makes it suitable for large families, long-distance travel and even commercial mobility services such as airport shuttles or premium ride-sharing. Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the VLE will be sold in multiple seating and usage configurations, so buyers can choose versions that focus more on luxury or on maximum passenger capacity. It will sit below the upcoming VLS, which is expected to be a more chauffeur-driven and luxury-focused model. Looking at the design, the VLE takes inspiration from the futuristic Vision V concept. A teaser image of this car shows a sleek front end with star-shaped LED daytime running lights, connected by a full-width light bar. The grille is closed, which is typical for electric vehicles and the overall shape is expected to remain close to the concept car with practical tweaks for real-world use. Mercedes-Benz has not revealed everything about the interiors yet, but expectations are high. The VLE is likely to feature the massive MBUX Hyperscreen, a full-width digital display that runs on the company’s new MB.OS software. This screen could stretch across the dashboard, handling everything from navigation and entertainment to vehicle settings. Higher variants may also offer rear-seat screens and premium comfort features for passengers sitting at the back.
