With 2026 weeks away, several major automakers have introduced new or updated models to attract car buyers into the fold. Most recently, MG Motor India
has introduced the facelift version of its Hector SUV. It gets updated exterior styling, beefed-up electronics and two new colour options at an attractive starting price of Rs 11.99 lakh ex-showroom. However, how much of the facelift glamour does the most affordable Hector Style variant retain? Let's find out in this variant explainer. The new Hector is available in seven different variants. Out of these, the Hector Style variant sits at the bottom with its attractive price tag of Rs 11.99 lakh ex-showroom. The Hector Style base variant covers the basics well with 6 airbags as standard, tilt-adjustable steering, LED DRLs, turn indicators on ORVMs, rear parking sensor and hill hold control. However, there is a considerable difference in the appearance of the exterior and interior when compared to higher models. The base Hector Style variant gets projector headlamps but features halogen bulbs; the taillamps are not full LED, instead they have a bulb and LED configuration and do not feature the connected taillamp unit. It does not get fog lamps, or the new Aura Hex Grille. Chrome accents seen in the top model will not be present and instead of alloy wheels, MG is offering 17-inch steel wheels with a plastic cover. Other exterior elements that will be offered in the base variant include silver-finished side body cladding, roof rails, rear spoiler and a smaller shark fin antenna. Inside the Hector Style variant, customers will be offered fabric upholstery, a 3.5-inch driver information display and a basic audio system with Bluetooth and 4 speakers. Other notable features inside the base Style variant include a height-adjustable driver seat, central locking, electric ORVMs, reclining second row with air vents and all power windows.
Based on these details, at Rs 11.99 lakh ex-showroom, the Hector Style variant covers the basics but makes more sense for those looking strictly for a people mover, such as fleet owners. By taking a step higher towards the Select Pro variant, family car buyers will be offered a better assortment of the new exterior and interior updates, along with a premium appeal. However, the Select Pro variant is priced at Rs 13.99 lakh ex-showroom, which makes it Rs 2 lakh costlier than the base Style variant.
