What is the story about?
Honda has now launched the XR300L and XR300 Rally dual-sport motorcycles in India at Rs 1.83 lakh and Rs 2.08 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru) with bookings
open at BigWing dealerships. They matter because Honda has had very little presence in the Indian adventure-style segment and the XR300L is priced just above the Hero Xpulse 210 and below the Kawasaki KLX230. There is a catch, though: Honda says full specifications will only be released in the third quarter of FY2026-27, with deliveries starting shortly afterwards. Here is what is confirmed, what is still missing, and what to weigh before you book one.
Honda XR300L, XR300 Rally: Price
The XR300L costs Rs 1.83 lakh (ex-showroom) and the XR300 Rally Rs 2.08 lakh (ex-showroom), so on-road prices will differ by state. Honda's listing says the price applicable is the one at the time of delivery. Both bikes are made in India. The Rs 25,000 premium buys the Rally a 5-inch TFT display, a larger fuel tank, a taller windscreen, knuckle guards, rally-style bodywork and more comprehensive switchgear.Honda XR300L, XR300 Rally: Hardware
Both share a 293.5cc, air- and oil-cooled engine closely related to the CB300F's. In global markets that engine makes around 24.3 hp and 26.5 Nm, but Honda hasn't published India figures. Suspension is a telescopic fork and a rear monoshock, on a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheel setup. India-spec bikes get revised exhaust routing compared with the South American XR300L, likely for emissions rules. The Rally should have a slightly taller seat and heavier kerb weight because of its bigger tank, but neither number is out.The XR300L sits Rs 6,000 to Rs 15,000 above the Xpulse 210, which is listed at Rs 1.68 lakh to Rs 1.77 lakh, and Rs 36,000 below the Kawasaki KLX230 at Rs 2.19 lakh, while offering a larger engine. The Rally is Rs 11,000 below the KLX230.
