The new GST regime has brought significant relief for buyers of motorcycles with engine capacities up to 350cc. The tax rate on these two-wheelers has been
cut from 28% to 18%, directly translating into lower ex-showroom prices. This change benefits almost all of Yamaha Motor India’s models, as most of its motorcycles fall within this category. One of Yamaha’s most popular models, the R15, has seen the steepest price drop. The company has reduced the R15’s ex-showroom price by Rs 17,581. As a result, the motorcycle now costs Rs 1,94,439 compared to its earlier price of Rs 2,12,020. This is the highest GST-related price cut among Yamaha’s current lineup. Several other Yamaha models have also received price reductions under the revised GST rates. Below are the updated prices:
- MT15: from Rs 1,80,500 to Rs 1,65,536 (down Rs 14,964)
- FZ-S Fi Hybrid: from Rs 1,45,190 to Rs 1,33,159 (down Rs 12,031)
- FZ-X Hybrid: from Rs 1,49,990 to Rs 1,37,560 (down Rs 12,430)
- Aerox 155 Version S: from Rs 1,53,890 to Rs 1,41,137 (down Rs 12,753)
- RayZR: from Rs 93,760 to Rs 86,001 (down Rs 7,759)
- Fascino: from Rs 1,02,790 to Rs 94,281 (down Rs 8,509)
These cuts make Yamaha’s entry-level and mid-segment motorcycles more affordable to a wider range of buyers. The Yamaha R15 is powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 18.4 hp and 14.2 Nm of peak torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. This combination has been a key reason for the model’s popularity among riders looking for performance-oriented yet efficient motorcycles.
