If you have been on the lookout for a daily commuter that offers premium features within a reasonable budget, then the hatchback segment has had limited
options over the last few years. The list of premium hatchbacks in the country has shrunk in recent times and the two major players left are the Hyundai i20 and the Tata Altroz. If the Hyundai i20 has been on your shortlist, then there is good news as the carmaker has now announced a new variant for the hatchback, which has brought the starting price of the i20 to under Rs 6 lakh ex-showroom. Hyundai has also slashed prices for other variants in its lineup and here's everything you need to know. Hyundai India has announced that it is launching a new Era variant for the i20, priced at Rs 5.99 lakh ex-showroom. This makes the i20 Era the new base model for the hatchback and it gets essentials such as 6 airbags, a fully digital instrument cluster, front and rear skid plates, body colour ORVMs, door handles and telescopic steering. The i20 is powered by Hyundai's 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine that produces 82.4 hp with the manual transmission.
That is not all, because Hyundai has also made concessions to the prices for other variants that now sit above the Era variant. Prices for the i20 Magna Executive variant have now been slashed to Rs 6.74 lakh ex-showroom, it was earlier priced at Rs 6.86 lakh ex-showroom. Similarly, the Magna variant of the i20 is now priced at Rs 6.99 lakh ex-showroom instead of Rs 7.12 lakh ex-showroom from earlier.

Highlight features of the Magna Executive variant include a tyre pressure monitoring system, automatic headlamps, keyless entry, steering-mounted controls and more. The Magna variant further adds features such as an electric sunroof, LED DRLS, rear AC vents, front armrest and more. As a dealer-installed option, i20 Era variant customers will also be able to opt for a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with a rear camera with a 3-year warranty, at an additional cost of Rs 14,999. The dealer installed package will be available for other variants as well.
