After the recent announcement of the new GST reforms, several car makers have confirmed that they will be extending the full cost benefits to their customers.
The latest to join this bandwagon is Hyundai India, which offers segment-leading models such as the Exter, Venue and the Creta mid-sized SUV in the domestic market. Post GST 2.0, customers are now set to enjoy price drops of up to Rs 2.4 lakh on Hyundai cars. Keeping the top-level trims and variants in mind, here's how much cheaper Hyundai cars will cost after September 22.
1. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Aura:
The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Aura sedan will benefit from the new 18 percent uniform GST rate due to their under 1,200cc displacement and under 4,000 mm length. Price drops on both models will go up to Rs 73,808 on the Nios and Rs 78,465 on the Aura sedan.
2. Hyundai Exter:
The Exter is another important model for the Hyundai brand in the highly competitive sub-compact SUV segment. If you are planning to purchase one this festive season, then you can benefit from a price drop of up to Rs 89,209 for the top-end trim.
3. Hyundai i20 and i20 N-Line:
Over 1 lakh price drop has been confirmed for the i20 line of premium hatchbacks that Hyundai offers in India. For the standard i20, prices have now dropped up to Rs 98.053 for the top trim and Rs 1.08 lakh for the performance-oriented i20 N-Line top-end.
4. Hyundai Venue and Venue N-Line:
Similar to the i20, big price cuts have been made the the Venue compact SUV lineup. The standard Venue's top trim will now cost Rs 1.23 lakh cheaper and up to Rs 1.19 lakh cheaper for the N-Line variants.
5. Hyundai Verna:
While the Verna mid-sized sedan does not qualify for the new 18 percent GST rate, it is still offering a considerable cut in price under the GST reforms. Hyundai has confirmed that customers would now have to pay up to Rs 60,640 less on the Verna's top trim under the GST reforms.
6. Hyundai Creta and Creta N-Line:
While the Verna or Creta may not qualify for the lower 18 percent GST rate, the reduction via the flat 40 percent GST on luxury vehicles has led to big benefits for customers among these popular cars.
The Creta and the Creta N-Line top variants will now cost Rs 72,145 and Rs 71,762 cheaper than before after the GST reforms kick into place on September 22.
7. Hyundai Alcazar and Tucson SUVs:
Like its smaller segment offering, Hyundai has confirmed major price drops for the Alcazar 7-seater SUV and the Tucson premium SUV. The Alcazar's top-end variants will see a price drop of up to Rs 75,376. However, it is the Tucson that has seen the biggest price drop of up to Rs 2.4 lakh on its top-end variants.
The considerable price cuts on mass-market models such as the Nios, Exter and Creta indicate a significant uptake in car sales in the upcoming festive season. Hyundai currently sells cars in both entry-level and high-end segments and the new price cuts across the board prove that the GST reforms have now made car ownership accessible to a wider set of buyers across India.
