
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today flag off India’s electric vehicle exports to 100 countries. Alongside the launch, the Prime Minister will also
inaugurate a lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility set up by Suzuki, Toshiba, and Denso. The new plant is aimed at supporting hybrid and electric vehicle battery production, a move expected to strengthen India’s EV supply chain and reduce reliance on imports. Also Read: Drivers Beware! New Petrol Pump Scam Caught On Cam In Delhi Speaking at the ET World Leaders Forum 2025 last week, PM Modi had underlined that India’s automobile exports have more than doubled in the past decade, rising from about Rs 50,000 crore annually before 2014 to nearly Rs 1.2 lakh crore today. He also pointed out that India has expanded its footprint in global markets by exporting metro coaches, rail coaches, and locomotives. The Prime Minister linked this growth to the government’s emphasis on strengthening the fundamentals of the economy, which he said is now reflecting across all sectors. He recalled raising similar points in his Independence Day address, adding that recent developments further underscore India’s growth trajectory. He cautioned that imported research may help survival but cannot meet India’s ambitions, stressing the need for urgency and a focused mindset in domestic research.
