Hyundai Motor India is ramping up its long-term game plan with a massive product rollout lined up till FY2030. The automaker has confirmed it will introduce
26 new models, a mix of 20 ICE vehicles and 6 electric ones, over the next few years. A standout development in this roadmap is Hyundai’s consideration of bringing its luxury arm, Genesis, to Indian shores. While no final decision has been made, Hyundai says it’s actively assessing the premium market, currently ruled by the German trio: Mercedes, BMW, and Audi. “We're looking at how Genesis can deliver a new kind of luxury experience,” said Tarun Garg, HMIL’s Whole-Time Director and COO. More details are expected during Hyundai’s upcoming Investor Day, scheduled for October 2025. By then, the company’s Talegaon plant, which begins operations in FY2026, will be ready to bolster production across different segments. Meanwhile, Hyundai’s current portfolio has seen strong activity. FY2024-25 saw 20 product updates across models like the Venue, Exter, Alcazar, and Aura. The company also took a major step into the EV segment with the launch of the Creta Electric. In rural areas, Hyundai is gaining ground, especially with CNG vehicles. Sales of CNG models rose 33% year-on-year in rural regions, helping the brand grow its rural market share to 20.9% from 19.4%. To strengthen its EV play, Hyundai has begun assembling battery packs locally in Chennai and is exploring partnerships for cell manufacturing. It currently has 80 fast chargers in India and aims to scale that to over 600 within 6–7 years. Despite stiff competition, especially from Mahindra in the SUV segment, Hyundai held on to the No. 2 spot in domestic and export sales in FY2024-25, with SUVs accounting for 69% of its total domestic volume. The Indian arm also contributed 18.5% to Hyundai Motor Company’s global production.
