What is the story about?
The Bajaj Pulsar N250SS has been launched in India at Rs 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), with a six-speed gearbox, quickshifter and 5-inch TFT display.
The updated motorcycle also gets a four-valve engine and electronic throttle control with ride modes. These changes set it apart from the standard Pulsar N250, which uses a five-speed gearbox and a conventional digital console. The SS variant costs around Rs 14,000 more than the standard model, according to launch reports. Here’s a closer look at its engine, equipment and styling, and what the additional money brings to the quarter-litre Pulsar range.
Bajaj Pulsar N250SS: Engine and Gearbox
The motorcycle retains a 249cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine, but now uses a four-valve head. It produces about 24.6 hp and 22 Nm of torque. The standard N250’s two-valve engine produces 24.16 hp and 21.5 Nm, according to Bajaj’s current specifications. The SS variant gets a six-speed gearbox in place of the standard model’s five-speed unit. It also adds a Sports Shifter, which allows clutchless gear changes. The extra gear expands the transmission’s available ratios while the updated engine brings a modest increase in peak output.
Bajaj Pulsar N250SS: 5-Inch TFT Display and Ride Modes
A 5-inch colour TFT instrument console replaces the standard motorcycle’s digital display. It supports Google Maps mirroring and includes features such as a lap timer and document storage. The updated handlebar controls allow riders to navigate the display menus. The Pulsar N250SS also gets an electronic throttle body and five riding modes: Sport, Road, Rain, Off-road and Tour. Other additions include adjustable brake and clutch levers, a USB Type-C charging port, a hazard-light switch and Panic Brake Alert.
Bajaj Pulsar N250SS: Design and Hardware
The Bajaj motorcycle retains the N250’s muscular fuel tank, projector headlamp, sharp daytime-running lights and split-seat layout. The version shown in launch coverage features black bodywork with red graphics, red alloy wheels and matching pillion grab rails. Gold-finished upside-down front forks are also present.Disc brakes at both ends and dual-channel ABS are retained. The main changes are concentrated in the engine configuration, transmission and electronics rather than a complete redesign.
Bajaj Pulsar N250SS: Price in India
At Rs 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom), the Pulsar N250SS sits above the standard N250 in Bajaj’s lineup. The additional cost brings the six-speed gearbox, Sports Shifter, TFT display and electronic throttle with ride modes. For buyers comparing the two versions, the choice comes down to whether these additions justify the price difference. The standard N250 remains the less expensive option, while the SS adds more equipment and a revised powertrain.
