What is the story about?
Mahindra has launched the XUV 3XO CNG at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), with twin CNG cylinders in the boot and a claimed 24.70 km/kg. It matters because
Mahindra’s SUV range had no CNG option until now, and this version takes on the Tata Nexon CNG and Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG while keeping a 110 bhp turbo-petrol engine, six airbags and a 360-degree camera. Prices run to Rs 12.27 lakh across four variants. Here is what each ZNG variant costs, what is on offer, and what to check on boot space, mileage and running-cost payback before you book one.

Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG: What the ZNG gets
The design is the same as the petrol 3XO apart from the ZNG badge on the tailgate. The features list includes three steering modes (Normal, Comfort and Sports), a start-stop button, a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital cluster. A panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitor, Dolby Atmos sound, leatherette seats, a rear wiper, connected LED taillamps and front and rear armrests complete the list.Safety kit covers six airbags, four disc brakes, three-point belts for all occupants, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a seat-belt reminder and a speed alert. Which variant gets which feature hasn’t been detailed, so ask for the variant sheet.
Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG: The Hardware
The twin cylinders sit in the boot, so ask how much usable space remains and whether a full-size suitcase fits. The engine is the 1.2-litre TCMPFi turbo-petrol making 110 bhp and 200 Nm, and the claimed 0-100 km/h time is 11.8 seconds. The 24.70 km/kg figure is a claim, and real-world numbers will be lower. The gearbox options and warranty on the CNG kit weren’t stated in the launch details, so confirm both.Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG: Is the Premium Worth It?
The petrol RevX Edge (O) was listed at Rs 9.89 lakh earlier, so the CNG version costs about Rs 90,000 more. To work out the payback, divide that premium by the running-cost saving per km (petrol cost per km minus CNG cost per km) and compare it with the km you drive each year. High-mileage drivers recover it faster, while light users may never do so.Before you book, check that CNG stations are within easy reach of your home and route. Ask which variants get the panoramic sunroof and the 360-degree camera. Ask whether the cylinders’ periodic checks and the CNG kit are covered by Mahindra’s warranty and servicing.
