September is shaping up to be a busy month for new car launches in India. The Kia Sorento will arrive first, followed closely by the Maruti Suzuki Baleno
facelift. BMW has also locked in the updated 7 Series and i7 while Porsche will bring the Cayenne Electric to India by the end of the month. The Skoda Slavia facelift is another model expected to join the action. From an affordable hatchback update to high-end luxury and electric models, September’s launch list is unusually broad.
Kia Sorento
Kia will launch the Sorento in India on September 4. It is a three-row SUV and will sit above the Carnival in the brand’s passenger vehicle range. Kia has already revealed the India-spec model and has also confirmed that both diesel and strong-hybrid powertrains will be offered.The Sorento will enter a relatively small but competitive segment that includes the likes of the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron as well as Jeep Meridian. Seating layouts, variant mix and final pricing will determine how closely it competes with these established rivals.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift
The Baleno facelift is scheduled for September 5. Unlike an all-new generation, this is expected to be a mid-cycle update with the focus likely to remain on exterior styling and equipment.The current petrol and CNG engine options are expected to stay. Several industry reports and pre-launch information suggest changes to the front-end design and wheels along with updates inside the cabin. The facelift comes at a time when the premium hatchback segment is seeing fresh activity, making the feature list and pricing particularly important.
BMW 7 Series and i7 Facelift
BMW India will introduce the facelifted 7 Series and i7 on September 11. The biggest talking point is the revised interior, which adopts BMW’s newer Panoramic iDrive system.The international models have received changes to technology and powertrain-related hardware though the final specifications for India will only be clear at launch. The i7 update will also be closely watched, especially for any changes to battery capacity, range as well as charging performance in the India-spec version.
Porsche Cayenne Electric and Slavia Facelift
Porsche has confirmed September 30 for the Cayenne Electric’s debut. It will mark the arrival of an electric version of one of Porsche’s most recognisable SUVs, with India details expected around its global unveiling.The Skoda Slavia facelift is also on the September launch radar. The variant-wise pricing for the recently unveiled sedan are expected to be announced.
For buyers, September is not about one big launch. It is a month where the shortlist could look very different depending on the budget, with new options arriving across mass-market, premium, luxury and electric segments.
