Tesla has taken a significant step in strengthening its India presence by launching its first EV charging station in the country. Located at One BKC in Mumbai’s
Bandra-Kurla Complex, the facility features four V4 Superchargers (DC) and four destination chargers (AC), the company confirmed on Monday. This development comes shortly after Tesla inaugurated its first Indian Experience Centre in Mumbai, marking its formal entry into the market on July 15 with the introduction of the Model Y SUV. Tesla also revealed plans to expand its charging network, with three more stations set to come up in Lower Parel, Thane, and Navi Mumbai by the end of the September quarter. The Model Y, which will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU) from Tesla’s Shanghai plant, is being offered in two rear-wheel drive variants. The base variant is priced at Rs 59.89 lakh, while the long-range version is pegged at Rs 67.89 lakh. Deliveries for the base model are expected in the third quarter of 2025, with the long-range variant following in the fourth quarter. Charging rates at Tesla’s Superchargers will begin at Rs 24 per kWh for fast charging (250 kW), while AC destination charging will be priced at Rs 14 per kWh for up to 11 kW.
