Renault India recently unveiled the new-generation Duster SUV for India and after a long time, a new Renault car has generated considerable excitement
among enthusiasts. For the 2026 avatar, the Renault Duster checks most of the boxes and adds some more. It gets a rugged design, athletic stance and futuristic elements inside and out. It also offers a feature-rich cabin with highlights including a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, and more. However, apart from covering all its bases, the new Duster has also gone a step ahead and now gets three different engine options, including a strong hybrid. Here's everything you need to know about these engine options. Three Engines, All Petrol Powered - The new Duster's powertrain arsenal includes two turbocharged petrol engines and a strong hybrid petrol engine. The turbo-petrol engines include the Turbo TCe 160 and the Turbo TCe 100. On the other hand, the strong hybrid engine option is called the Hybrid E-Tech 160. 1. Turbo TCe 160 Performance: The Duster Turbo TCe 160 generates a segment-leading power figure of 162.5 hp and 280 Nm of torque. To make all that power delivery effortless, Renault has further armed this engine option with a 6-speed dual-clutch (DCT) automatic transmission with a wet-clutch system. This will make gear shifts seamless and help the duster catch triple-digit speed effortlessly, while presumably having better reliability than a traditional dry-clutch DCT automatic. For manual driving enthusiasts, Renault will also offer this engine option with a 6-speed manual transmission. 2. Turbo TCe 100 Performance: The TCe 100 turbo-petrol engine offers a more practical option for those who are looking for an efficient daily runner. The Duster's TCe 100 engine produces 160 Nm of torque and comes paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. It can be assumed that this engine option is similar to the 1.0-litre petrol engine that we have seen earlier in the Kiger compact SUV, which generates 98 hp and 160 Nm of torque. 3. Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160: While Renault has not revealed any of the performance output numbers of the new hybrid engine, the carmaker has confirmed that the strong hybrid powertrain will be based on a 1.8-litre petrol engine and a 1.4 kWh battery pack. Both will work in tandem and the hybrid Duster will be able to do up to 80 percent of city travel in electric mode, boosting its mileage. However, prospective buyers need to know that Renault plans to start delivering the strong hybrid Duster in the Diwali season, which would be in November 2026.
