together due to ongoing dating rumours. According to sources, a female-led film is currently in the works, with Mrunal Thakur being considered for the central role.
The Times of India quoted Filmibeat report mentioning that Mrunal Thakur is in discussions to play the lead role. And the production described the story as female-centric and offering a meaty role for the heroine. Reportedly, discussions are in the final stages and an official announcement is also on the way.

Mrunal’s recent following of Dhanush’s sisters on Instagram further added to the speculation, though both actors have remained discreet about their personal lives.

The film also stars Anurag Kashyap in lead roles, alongside Prakash Raj, Sunil, Zayn Marie Khan, and Atul Kulkarni in supporting roles. It has received mixed reviews from the audience and critics. Dacoit has earned close to Rs 40 crore on its opening weekend in India.
While Dhanush will be next seen in Kara. Recently, the trailer was also released. Set against the backdrop of the 1991 Gulf War, the trailer begins with news of oil wells in Kuwait being set on fire by Iraq, triggering a massive impact on global economy, and severe fuel crisis. This widespread scarcity forms the core conflict of the film. Dhanush plays Karasaami, also known as Kara, a former robber who is compelled to return to crime as circumstances push him into survival mode. The trailer shows Kara pulling off a series of bank robberies, while a determined police officer, played by Suraj Venjaramoodu, starts investigating and tracking the crimes. Meanwhile, Kara faces suspicion from those around him, who question whether he has truly reformed. The narrative builds tension as he struggles against both law enforcement and personal doubt. Kara is all set to hit the big screens on April 30, 2026.
