Telugu star and Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Pawan Kalyan has responded to the growing comparisons being made between him and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay. This comes a day after his brother
Chiranjeevi had a warm phone call with Vijay. Speaking to his party cadres in Mangalariri, Pawan Kalyan said he has been receiving messages from people drawing parallels between his political journey and that of Vijay. However, he dismissed the comparisons and made it clear that such comparisons are not appropriate as the political situations in both states are very different.
Pawan Kalyan On Comparisons With Tamil Nadu CM Vijay
While speaking to party cadres at Jana Sena’s headquarters in Mangalagiri, Pawan Kalyan said that ever since the developments in Tamil Nadu, where an actor formed a party and went on to become Chief Minister, he has been facing pressure and constant comparisons from people. While he didn’t directly take Vijay’s name, he said, “Ever since the Tamil Nadu elections and him becoming Chief Minister, people are pressuring me. In our neighbouring state, an actor established a party and became the Chief Minister. A lot of people have since messaged me that I should’ve done the same in Andhra Pradesh,” he said.
He also referred to a Telugu saying to explain the situation, comparing the chatter to unnecessary excitement over a neighbour’s wedding, where outsiders get overly involved even though it has nothing to do with them. “Uru lo pelli ki…edo hadavidi antaru kada (Like unnecessary excitement for a neighbour’s wedding). It’s like how little children run around, unaware it’s not their family wedding. The situation in Andhra Pradesh is different. As they said, I contested in the 2019 election. What did they do? Even the Ministers didn’t stick by me. So, don’t compare,” he said.
Earlier, Pawan Kalyan extended his heartfelt congratulations to Thalapathy Vijay following his rise as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The actor-politician shared a warm message wishing success to Vijay and expressing hope that the new government would fulfill the aspirations of the people.
Taking to his X handle, Pawan Kalyan wrote the congratulatory message, “Heartfelt congratulations to @TVKVijayHQ Chief Thiru @actorvijay AVL, on taking oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and to all those who took oath as Ministers. I wish the new government will fullfill the aspirations of the people, ensure transparent and progressive governance, and lead Tamil Nadu towards greater growth and prosperity.”
