Following reports of the Israel-US strike near the Pakistan embassy in the Iranian capital of Tehran, Islamabad issued a stark warning to Israel over the safety of its diplomats, saying any threat to its officials
— whether in Iran or elsewhere — would invite a sharp response.
A statement from the government-affiliated Pakistan Strategic Forum read, “Israel must remember, Pakistan is no Qatar. We will beat hell out of them if any harm occurred to our diplomats, anywhere in the world”.
The threat follows reports of fresh aerial strikes carried out by Israel and the United States in central parts of Tehran on Thursday, including areas in proximity to the residence of Pakistan’s ambassador and the Pakistani Embassy in Iran’s capital.
Initial information from sources suggests that the embassy compound and Pakistani diplomatic staff were not harmed, but several nearby buildings shook violently as explosions rocked the neighbourhood.
The war in West Asia — involving the US, Israel and Iran — has entered its 28th day, with multiple airstrikes reported in Tehran, Kashan, and Abadan.
Pak’s Mediator Role
The strikes come at a critical moment for Pakistan’s diplomatic positioning, with Islamabad attempting to facilitate dialogue between US and Iran.
Pakistani officials have publicly stated that “if both parties desire, Islamabad is willing to host talks” between the United States and Iran.
Trump Extends Deadline
U.S. President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he was once again postponing the deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face devastating strikes on its power plants.
“Talks are ongoing and, despite erroneous statements to the contrary by the Fake News Media and others, they are going very well,” the president wrote in a social media post, adding the deadline is now April 6.
Iran maintains the Strait of Hormuz remains open to friendly nations, rejecting claims that any negotiations with Washington are taking place.
