Sanae Takaichi, Japan’s Prime Minister, was accorded the ceremonial Guard of Honour when she arrived at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present during the ceremony
alongside Takaichi.
The Japanese Prime Minister is in India to engage in bilateral talks with her Indian counterpart. Japan expressed excitement after their Prime Minister arrived in New Delhi, according to a report by ANI.
“Our heartfelt thanks for your warm welcome. We are very much excited to be visiting India!” said the Japanese Cabinet Public Relations Officer, in a tweet on X.
Japanese Prime Minister was received by India’s Union Minister of State (MoS) for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh on Wednesday. After having received her, he posted on X, “Privileged to receive and welcome Her Excellency Sanae Takaichi, Prime Minister of Japan, on behalf of the Govt of India, on her arrival at Palam Technical Airport, New Delhi, late this evening, on a 3-day visit to India where her engagements include the ’15th India-Japan Annual Summit'”.
This is Takaichi’s first state visit to India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is “delighted” to host the Japanese Prime Minister and is looking forward to holding discussions that aim at further strengthening the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership, he said.
The Indian Prime Minister also said that leaders of the two countries will engage in wide-ranging discussions covering bilateral and regional issues during the Japanese Prime Minister’s three-day visit here.
Japanese private companies are set to invest around $12.5 billion in India through 120 cooperation agreements during 16th Japan-India Annual Summit, according to Japanese media reports. The summit is also coinciding with the state visit of the Japanese Prime Minister.
More than 150 companies from Japan will be participating in the Japan-India Economic Forum, Japan’s Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Masanao Ozaki said in a post on X. Ozaki is also accompanying the Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi on this state visit.
The Japanese secretary said this will strengthen government-to-government relations in the areas of national and economic security.
