BATWARA 1947 has been generating interest ever since its motion poster and character posters were unveiled. The film, set against the backdrop of India’s Partition, explores themes of courage, sacrifice

With the release of its teaser, audiences have now got a closer look at the world the film aims to bring to the screen.The teaser revisits the events surrounding India’s Independence and the Partition, a chapter that changed the lives of millions. Featuring intense visuals, impactful dialogues and an emotional background score, it offers a glimpse into a story centered on hope and survival amid widespread upheaval. At its core is a protagonist navigating fear, conflict and uncertainty during one of the most significant moments in the subcontinent’s history.
BATWARA 1947 features an ensemble cast including veteran actor Shabana Azmi, Sunny Deol, Preity G Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh and marks the much-awaited reunion of Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol after nearly three decades. Produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, BATWARA 1947 is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi. The music is composed by A. R. Rahman, while the lyrics are penned by Javed Akhtar. It is based on Asghar Wajahat’s renowned play ‘Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai’. The music is composed by A. R. Initially planned to release in 2025, the film was postponed due to post-production work. It is now slated to hit theatres on August 14, 2026, coinciding with the Independence Day weekend.
