Families searching for relatives after the devastating floods in Nepal now have a new portal where they can report missing people, check existing cases and share information from the ground.
The platform
was created by Harteerath Singh Ahluwalia, founder of Hemkunt Foundation, after he said the organisation kept receiving messages from families who had lost contact with their relatives. Hemkunt Foundation is a non-profit organisation involved in humanitarian work.
Families Kept Asking For Help
Ahluwalia explained the reason behind creating the portal in a post on X. He wrote, “Since the Nepal floods, families have been sending us the same message. Our relative was in that group. Nobody is telling us anything. Can you help. So we built one place for it. Report or search here:

The post came as many families continued looking for people who went missing after the floods.
The Portal Has Three Options
Along with the registered link and post, Ahluwalia shared two images. The first image shows the homepage of the platform, titled “Nepal-Tibet floods” and “Missing person tracing.” It gives users three main options: “Report someone missing”, “Check a status” and “Send news from the ground.”
The page says users can fill in a report once, while the response team will see it immediately. People can also search the public list to check whether someone has already been reported.
The third option allows people to update a case if they have information from the affected areas. The platform also says that only verified reports will be listed publicly, and that too only when the family has agreed to it.
Users Can Fill In Details
The second image explains how people can submit a missing-person report. It asks users to open the portal, select the report option and fill in the form.
The form includes details such as the missing person’s name, age and gender. It also tells users that even incomplete information may be useful. “Fill in as much as you can — even partial details help,” the page says.

Some Users Raised Questions
The initiative drew responses from users, with one person tagging Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority and questioning the collection of information. The user wrote, “Why are you collecting information when not having access of actual information or in position to help? You may better to amplify the official platform.”
Another user shared the official account of the Nepal Embassy in New Delhi in response to the post.
