A woman drove a cabby for 2km at 50-60km/hour along the Sangamwadi-Shahdawal Dargah road in Maharashtra’s Pune on the bonnet of her car after he tried to stop her fleeing after a minor accident on January
17.
The cabby, Ram Rathod (34), sustained injuries in his hand. However, he did not report the incident to the police; it only came to light after a video of the same went viral on the internet.
Taking cognisance of the matter, the police traced Rathod and recorded his statement. Based on this, they tracked down the woman and arrested the woman, a Baner resident.
“Around 3 P.M. on Jan 17, the woman was driving from Yerawada to Shivajinagar when her vehicle hit a bike on Sangamwadi Road. The rider, his wife and child fell off the bike,” Laxminagar police station senior inspector Ravindra Kadam said, as quoted by Times of India.
Rathod’s cab was behind the woman’s car. As she moved her car in reverse gear, it hit Rathod’s cab. He chased the car, intercepted it, and parked his cab alongside, said Inspector Kadam.
As he stood in front of the woman’s car, she pressed the accelerator, prompting the man to jump onto the bonnet in an attempt to save himself, he added.

The senior inspector said that Rathod held onto the bonnet as he kept pleading with her to stop. Instead, the woman kept racing through the traffic at a speed of 50-60kmph for almost 2 kms.
“Some motorcycle riders started chasing the speeding car and also shot videos of the incident”, said the inspector, as quoted by the outlet.
The woman stopped her car only when locals intervened, shouting and signalling her to stop.
According to the police, they traced the victim and reached the hospital where he was undergoing treatment. After learning about the car’s registration number, they tracked down the woman and arrested her.
The cabby, his wife, and their child sustained minor injuries in the incident.
