of what happened.
The JSSC-CGL exam was originally scheduled for October 18 and 28, 2023. During the examination, candidates reported technical issues and allegations of a paper leak also surfaced. The third shift of the October 28 exam was cancelled on the same day. It was later decided that the cancelled examination would be held again. Here’s a timeline of the events.
December 2023: Exam postponed
The examination was conducted on December 16 and 17, 2023, but it was again postponed due to issues related to the question paper.
January 2024: Exam held
The examination was conducted again on January 28, 2024. However, the controversy continued. The third shift was cancelled after a paper leak issue came to light during scrutiny and objections were raised regarding the examination. The cancelled shift was then rescheduled.
February 4, 2024: Re-examination held
The cancelled examination was finally conducted on February 4, 2024. However, even after the re-examination, questions continued to be raised about the JSSC-CGL examination and its conduct.
December 30, 2025: Selected candidates appointed
Candidates who were selected through the JSSC-CGL recruitment process were appointed on December 30, 2025.
The recruitment process had filled several posts across different government departments. These included:

– For Block Development Officer, 343 candidates were selected from the General category, 237 from ST, 271 from SC, 43 from EBC and 83 from BC.
– For Junior Secretariat Assistant, 105 candidates were selected from the General category, 88 from ST, 31 from SC, 3 from EBC and 18 from BC.
– For the Officer post, 66 candidates were selected from the General category, 49 from ST, 19 from SC, 28 from EBC and 18 from BC.
– For Police Sub-Inspector, one candidate from the EBC category was selected.
– For Block Welfare Officer, 77 candidates were selected from the General category, 49 from ST, 19 from SC, 15 from EBC and 12 from BC.
– For Block Supply Officer, 66 candidates were selected from the General category, 47 from ST, 24 from SC, 19 from EBC and 17 from BC.
– For Sub-Inspector-cum-Catering, 72 candidates were selected from the General category, 46 from ST, 19 from SC, 11 from EBC and 17 from BC.
Overall, 1,975 candidates selected through the JSSC-CGL recruitment process are expected to be affected by the government’s decision, with their appointments potentially facing cancellation.
Cancellation of JSSC CGL
The Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government announced that the JSSC-CGL examination and its results would be cancelled. The government also decided to cancel several examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and other departments through the TDPL agency.
