Aamir Khan is one of the most loved actors and is often referred to as “Mr. Perfectionist.” The superstar is known for delivering everything with utmost perfection. Aamir Khan, who took about three years
off before releasing Sitaare Zameen Par (2025) following the debacle of Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), has now opened up about how he is shifting focus and will now prioritize himself as an actor.
Revealing that he is stepping away from his big role at his production house, Aamir Khan Productions, Aamir shared with Variety India, “Internally, I’ve taken a big decision. My company, Aamir Khan Productions, is now being headed by Aparna Purohit. All the projects that we had greenlit before she came on board are releasing in 2026. There is Happy Patel, which just released, and Ek Din and Lahore 1947 will also release.”
Speaking about how becoming the main producer shifts his focus and leaves the actor in him with less time, Aamir added, “Of course, I am there if needed, but I want her to independently run AKP,” and continued, “I am quite excited about reading different stories and am wondering what to pick next.”
While admitting that being a producer consumes most of his energy, Aamir concluded, “The moment I’m producing and acting, obviously, my acting time gets reduced, you know? I can’t give that much time to myself as an actor; I have to focus on my films, which I’ve taken on as responsibilities. For the last few years, I had to focus on two things. Now I’m focusing only on myself as an actor.”
Aamir Khan on the work front
On the professional front,Aamir Khan was recently seen in Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, where he made a cameo appearance and also served as the film’s producer. The Vir Das-starrer has received mixed reviews and a modest box office response.
Aamir is next backing Ek Din, starring his son Junaid Khan alongside Sai Pallavi. The film’s teaser was released recently and has generated curiosity among audiences.
As an actor, Aamir is reportedly set to play the legendary filmmaker Dadasaheb Phalke in an upcoming biopic to be directed by Rajkumar Hirani, though an official announcement is still awaited. He has also confirmed that work has begun on his long-gestating dream project based on the Mahabharat.
