When an engineer traded Bengaluru’s high-rise offices for a humble falooda stall, people laughed at his decision. But six years on, Pradeep Kannan has the last laugh as his brand now boasts 18 outlets
across India and Dubai.
This is the inspiring story of a man who chose passion over paycheques, proving that belief in one’s dreams can turn ridicule into applause.
Quitting The Corporate Life
In 2019, Pradeep Kannan, then Operations Head at Oracle, one of the world’s leading tech companies, made a bold move: he quit his high-paying job in Bengaluru to return to his hometown, Karur in Tamil Nadu. There, he followed his true passion and started a small venture called ‘The Falooda Shop’.
At the time, many called him reckless, but Pradeep stayed determined. Six years later, his ‘crazy’ dream turned into a success story.
Sharing his journey on social media platform X, he wrote, “Everyone thought I was making a mistake. But now, six years later, The Falooda Shop has over 18 outlets in India and Dubai. This is just the beginning.”
From Office Cubicles To Kitchens
Pradeep described how he transitioned from air-conditioned offices to the hustle of franchise kitchens. His next goal? To take The Falooda Shop global through retail expansion. His story is now a shining example of courage, conviction, and entrepreneurship in modern India.
His post quickly went viral, inspiring countless people trapped in corporate routines to chase their dreams. One user commented, “Stepping out of your comfort zone is where real success begins.”
Passion Over Paycheques
Similarly, Maninder Singh left his tech job in the US to start a small Punjabi food stall in Mohali after returning to India following his father’s passing. Encouraged by his wife’s cooking skills, he now serves comforting dishes like rajma-chawal and soya chaap, proving that true success lies not in your position, but in your passion.
