Siddharth Anand has firmly established himself as Bollywood’s go-to director for large-scale action spectacles. With blockbusters like Pathaan, War, Bang Bang and Fighter to his credit, the filmmaker is now
pushing the envelope further with his upcoming film King. Headlined by Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan, the film also features Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji in key roles, and is being positioned as a marquee Christmas 2026 release.
Currently under production, King is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious action films ever mounted in Indian cinema.
Rs 50 Crore Spent On A Single Action Sequence
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, King features a massive action set piece that alone has cost the makers a staggering Rs 50 crore. The sequence was shot across real locations in Europe over a tightly packed 10-day schedule, translating to an expenditure of nearly Rs 5 crore per day.
The scale of the sequence, mounted without the safety net of studio setups, underscores the film’s commitment to delivering a theatrical experience driven by realism and spectacle. Industry insiders describe it as one of the most expensive single action schedules ever executed for a Hindi film.
Shah Rukh Khan Deeply Involved In Action Design
The report further reveals that Shah Rukh Khan has played a hands-on role in conceptualising and supervising the action design for the film. The European sequence features Khan alongside Abhishek Bachchan, supported by a specialised international stunt team brought in specifically for the project.
Khan, known for his keen interest in pushing cinematic scale, reportedly worked closely with Siddharth Anand during the planning stages, helping shape the choreography and execution of the high-octane sequence. From location scouting to on-ground execution, the actor is said to have been deeply invested in ensuring the action translates powerfully on the big screen.
Aiming For A Grand Christmas 2026 Release
The makers are targeting a June 2026 wrap for King, after which the film will move into post-production. With an estimated production budget of around Rs 350 crore, excluding marketing and distribution costs, King already ranks among the most expensive action films produced in India.
Slated for a Christmas 2026 theatrical release, the film is being positioned as a tentpole event, combining star power, international-scale action, and Siddharth Anand’s signature blockbuster sensibility.
As anticipation builds, King is clearly being crafted as a spectacle designed to dominate the box office and redefine action filmmaking in Hindi cinema.
