Quick-commerce platform Blinkit joined the viral “Melodi” frenzy after PM Narendra Modi gifted Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni a packet full of Melody toffees during his Italy visit.

Meloni posted the video of the sweet moment, Blinkit revealed that searches for the popular toffee had suddenly surged on its platform.
Taking to Instagram and X, Blinkit said it was “seeing a sudden spike for melody searches on the app” as social media users flooded the internet with memes linked to the now-viral “Melodi”, the nickname associated with Modi and Meloni.

On the Blinkit app, Rs 100 Melody candy packets had gone out of stock, and Rs 50 packets were available amid the online buzz, turning the diplomatic moment into a pop-culture and e-commerce trend.
The hashtag “Melodi” is widely used on social media to refer to the warm rapport between the two leaders.
PM Modi, Meloni’s ‘Melody’ Moment In Italy
Sharing the video of the special moment when Modi gifted the toffees to Meloni on the social media platform Instagram, the Italian prime minister wrote: “Thank you for the gift”.
The video featured both Modi and Meloni holding a packet of the popular toffee.

In the video, Meloni said, “Prime Minister Modi brought us a gift…a very, very good toffee”, to which PM Modi replied, “Melody”, as the two leaders showed the packet of toffees and shared warm laughter.

The interaction quickly went viral online, sparking a wave of reactions across X and Instagram. Social media users dubbed it “peak internet diplomacy” and “the ultimate #Melodi crossover”. Within minutes, screenshots, memes and edited clips of the video flooded X and Instagram as many users applauded PM Modi for seemingly acknowledging one of the internet’s most talked-about political trends.
‘Melodi’: The Viral Moniker Born Out Of Modi-Meloni Camaraderie
During the G7 Summit, Meloni posted a selfie and a short video with PM Modi on social media, showing the two leaders smiling and waving at the camera. In the clip, Meloni could be heard saying, “Hello from the Melodi team.”

The term “Melodi” had earlier gone viral online following a bilateral meeting between the two leaders last year, with social media users combining their names into a popular hashtag. Sharing the post on X, Meloni wrote, “Hi friends, from #Melodi.”
PM Modi later responded to the post, saying, “Long live India-Italy friendship!”
In 2023, a selfie featuring PM Modi and Giorgia Meloni on the sidelines of the COP28 climate summit in Dubai had also gone viral across social media platforms.
Sharing the image at the time, Meloni wrote, “Good friends at COP28. #Melodi.”
