Priyanka Chopra Jonas has been keeping busy with multiple projects, balancing her time between films and television. The actress, who is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film The Bluff, is currently
working on her Indian film Varanasi by S.S. Rajamouli. Prior to these projects, she was also spotted on the London sets of her spy series Citadel.
In an interview with Variety, Priyanka shared insights about her globally-backed Prime series, Citadel. She confirmed that a second season is in the works but admitted uncertainty about the franchise’s long-term future.
She said, “We have Season 2, for sure, but the rest? I have no idea.” She added,
“I don’t ask. I go to work, do my job and I leave.”
Citadel’s first season was one of the most expensive television series ever produced, with reports suggesting it cost USD 300 million. Each of the six episodes reportedly had a budget of around USD 50 million. Despite heavy criticism and mixed reviews upon its release, the show was renewed for a second season.
The Global Reach of the Citadel Franchise
The Citadel franchise was designed to span international markets, including Italy’s Citadel: Diana and India’s Citadel: Honey Bunny. However, both these spin-offs were canceled after their debut seasons.
Priyanka also revealed how she got involved in the Russo Brothers’ series, saying, “I really admire the Russos. They’ve been a big part of my career and my journey here. Joe just dropped the script on text one day to me. Literally on text. He was like, ‘Check this out.’ That’s classic Joe style. And here we are four years later.”
Priyanka Chopra Stars in The Bluff
Apart from Citadel, Priyanka is set to lead the adrenaline-fueled adventure The Bluff alongside Karl Urban. Directed by Frank E. Flowers, who co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Ballarini, the film premieres globally on Prime Video on February 25.
The film’s impressive roster of executive producers includes Joe and Anthony Russo, Zoe Saldaña, and Sarah Halley Finn. The story explores the haunting consequences of a violent past and the lengths one woman will go to protect her family.
Chopra Jonas plays Ercell Bodden, a former pirate known as “Bloody Mary,” who has left her life of bloodshed behind to live quietly in the Cayman Islands with her husband, son and sister-in-law. But her past returns in a brutal fashion, threatening to upend the life she has carefully built.
