Rajinikanth fans clearly aren’t in the mood to wait until October 15 to show their love for Jailer 2! The superstar’s much-awaited sequel is already drawing audiences to ticket counters, and the advance
booking numbers are looking promising. The film has managed to hit a major milestone even before bookings have opened everywhere in India.
Jailer 2 crossed Rs 20 crore in worldwide advance bookings by the morning of October 11, just about a day after bookings opened across markets. Overseas audiences are doing their bit too, with pre-sales in international markets already nearing $2 million.
In India, bookings began on October 10, while select overseas markets had started a day earlier. Kerala joined the party on the morning of October 11. Even with bookings opening at different times across markets, the film managed to collect over Rs 4 crore in India in a single day. More than Rs 3.53 crore of that came from Day 1 advance bookings.

As expected, Tamil Nadu is leading the way, contributing nearly 90% of the film’s advance sales in India. Chennai alone has brought in Rs 1.63 crore. And these numbers could climb further as bookings open in more centres, including for the Malayalam and Hindi-dubbed versions.
There’s plenty to look forward to in Jailer 2, especially for fans who enjoyed the first film. Nelson Dilipkumar is back as writer and director, with Kalanithi Maran producing the film under the Sun Pictures banner. Apart from Rajinikanth, the cast includes Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa. Mammootty and Shiva Rajkumar are also returning for cameo appearances, just as they did in the first instalment.
But could Hrithik Roshan be joining them? Fans started wondering after the trailer teased a new cameo through a silhouette. While the speculation has been doing the rounds, the makers are yet to confirm whether Hrithik is actually part of the film.
The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, and the film is all set to hit theatres on October 15. It has received a UA 16+ certification and has a runtime of 2 hours and 45 minutes.
